Father's Day/June blog hop with Di's Country INKers

Welcome to the June blog hop - Father's Day Blog Hop.  Hope you enjoyed Crystal's blog hop project!  Since this was for Father's Day, it means a masculine card, which sometimes can be a challenge...I had seen a card that used the style made famous by an artist, Piet Mondrian, a Dutch painter whose art consisted of black lines on white with blocks of primary colors.  I did change up the colors so I could use the new In Colors with Stampin' Up and a few of the new products in the catalog.  Here's is my card:

For this Mondrian card design, I used Tip Top Taupe and Cucumber Crush cardstock (as well as whisper white and basic black), the new Cherry on Top designer series paper stack, What's Your Type stamp set, and candy dots.
How do you like how I used the shapes from the stamp set to spell out the word, DAD?  What a versatile stamp set!

As you can see, I cut the black cardstock into strips and "built" my card, adding strips of black to fill in and making sure that the colored pieces had black strips and white blocks around them, gluing them with little dots of tombow glue.  If you like puzzles, you will love playing with the blocks and strips in this card design!  You can see the card that inspired my design at: www.myelegantcards.com/page/3/
